January 26, 2011 – According to reports Toyota is recalling 1.7 million Lexus models worldwide due to fuel system problems.  According to the Toyota recall there are several models of Toyotas being recalled including Lexus luxury cars that will total 245,000 vehicles in the U.S. There will be 2006-2007 Lexus GS300 and GS300, there will also be 2006-2009 Lexus IS250 models and 2006-2008 models of Lexus vehicles recalled.  The company states the recall is due to insufficient tightening of the fuel-pressure sensor installation that is connected with certain engine fuel delivery pipes.

According to a Toyota statement there is a possibility that the pressure sensor could loosen over time and if loosing does occur the fuel could leak past the gasket.  The automaker has stated they have received 75 complaints in North America, 77 complaints overseas and over 140 complaints in Japan.  Toyota will be sending formal notice of the Lexus recall in the mail as soon as the parts are available to address the issue. Dealers will provide a free inspection and if leakage is found will tighten the fuel pressure sensor with the proper torque.
