Ford Recalling Over 280,000 F-150 Pickup Trucks

The recall is expected to begin approximately February 14th and dealers will inspect the door latch system and use additional reinforcements to the spring or replace the interior door handle module.

February 3, 2011-According to reports Ford has issued a product recall for over 280,000 of their F-150 pickup trucks. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration the Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for 280,946 F-150 pickup trucks. The recall is due to a potential problem with the door handles that could cause them not to open after a side impact accident.

Ford stated the interior door handle housing embossment holding the interior door handle spring can fracture during normal usage. This can result in inadequate spring action, causing the latch to open. This motor vehicle recall involves Ford F-150 pickup trucks that were built between 2009, 2010 2008 models from January 18 through November 30, 2009. The recall involves trucks in the U.S., 68,000 in Canada and 14,000 in Mexico.

According to Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood the automaker located in Dearborn, Michigan there have been no crashes or injuries due to the nature of the recall that have been reported. Sherwood stated that Ford is dedicated to safety and addressing any issues with their vehicles quickly.
